Default JDM Type R rear arms

This is the first I have heard of them https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=63082

Anybody have any info on these arms? What exactly do they do to affect the suspension? Please post pics of them installed on your car and also how much these things costs?

For those who have done this mod, Did it make a difference? or was it a waste of money?

http://www.ipsracing.com/

Look under the JDM & USDM Honda parts section. They are there about 1/2 way down.

Tubular vs. stamped steel. The choice is yours.

They are the upper mounting point for the rear suspension.

for about the same price you can get an adjustable one with similar construction...a must for any modified suspension

JDM JDM JDM JDM. It must be good because it's JDM! I agree with EPGONZALES. Don't bother with that mod. You'll get MUCH more benefit out of camber adjustable arms. Go for the King Motorsports ones if you must have the best. I have no idea how going from a stamped UCA to a tubular one is going to make any difference. It's still steel, it still has rubber bushings and it's the same length.

I ve checked the price for the kingmotorsports ones and they are $375.00.(almost 4 times the price of the JDM arms)

I have the JDM (UPPER & LOWER) arms on my GsR(lower arms for the suspension to fit), but I put them on the same time I put on my Tein HAs. My opinion is that the Upper arms are the bang for the buck, they look a lot better than the stock arms for sure.
I cant really comment on how the perform because I had them put on with the upgraded suspension, but put it this way, Honda designed them to improve the handling of the 98 and up Type Rs in Japan. You cant go wrong with them.

Just had to chime in here on the upper arms...as mentioned before the King ones are $375 or so. Exceptionaly gorgeous and functional pieces that are just about dimensionally identical to the JDM pieces--except for the spherical bushing/bearings on the ends and adjustable length. If you're not going to drop the ride height of your car dramatically (<1") then the JDM pieces are a bargain compared to the King ones. What difference will it make? The rear end "tightens" up (and has a slightly higher affinity for oversteer) because the geometry of the rear suspension stays more consistent because of the tubular steel JDM upper arm does not flex like the stamped USDM version. Although I have not tested the durometer of the rubber bushings, they may be different also: this also leading to a subtle handling difference.

If you're Intera is not slammed so it's scraping bots dots or you're out making a living tracking your car and having adjustable rear camber to the Nth degree is a must, then the JDM upper rear arms are a cost effective method for a minor handling change if you have the extra bucks laying about.

Hey "speedy"
, the Ingall's suck with the poly bushings... or should I say that they squeeeeeek like a ************... funtionally, I guess they work pretty well. However, I get real ****** tired of greesing them...

geometro,
you forgot to add the fact the the whole reason we(USDM) get the stamped arms is due to the fact the the JDM ones produce less negitive camber... hence, will break loose or rear drift easier(the tightening up that was spoke of earlier)... Honda decided that it would be safer for American drivers to have a little less "tail-happy" a car... Think Dan was selling them for around $100 don't know what IPS was...

Godspeed has them ..... I bought them for $100.00 for the pair.
I can't reallt determine the degree of performance gains because at the time, I also install the Tein HA's.

They look hella va lot stronger. I know I always had an issue with the rear driver-side tire not perfectly aligning correctly. Just barely with-in spec.
After I put the rear upper control arms in, it is not an issue anymore.

I'm am happy with the installation. On the track, I was considerably impressed with the handling characterisitics. (with both arms and susp.)

As for installation, its eazy breezy! 6 bolts and you're done!
