I was wondering if there is a way to check if your gas light is works. the light that tells you when you are almost out of gas. I haven't seen mine go on and i driven on "E" but when i fill up i still have 3 gallons left. anybody kno of a way to test the light

You have around a 3 gal. reserve, which is why the gas light comes on - to let you know that you only have 3 gal. (supposed to be 2.5 gal, but it isn't that accurate) left.

Since you want to know when the light comes on, it would probably be an idea to run the car 20-30 miles further than you normally get on a tank of gas.

I've been wondering this for the longest. How many miles can you get once the light comes on? Every time mine comes on I get paranoid and get to a gas station asap. Someone told me 20 miles but I wanna know for sure

 

you should be able to do at least 30 miles after light. i did like almost 40 and my car was beggining to idle funky.

 

yea just drive real calm and try your hardest not to hit vtec so u dont burn up alll your gas.

Ive been more than 20 miles with mine on .

Don't really want to test how muhc longer it will go, but for me over 20.

 

i've gone about 25 before i got scared and pulled into a gas station. my uncle has a newer chevy truck and he ran it almost til empty and some particles or some crap from the bottom of the tank got pumped into his fuel filter and clogged it all up.

&lt;damn chevy's..........lol good looks man.

 

buy a 2 gallon red gas container or something similar. drive your car until it dies, fill it up with the gas from the red tank. tell us how many miles you had.

 

How many mpg's does the 94 - 2000 LS, GSR, and type R get.

 

The ITR is rated at 25mpg city and 30mpg highway.

 

i've pulled 34.4mpg out of my GS-R on a cool highway morning

GSR the same.

 

my gas light usually goes on after about 10 gallons...but i usually drive for about 30-40 miles before i fill up sometimes

 

ive driven until my light comes on specifically to know see how much gas is left..and its pretty much always around 3 gallons left when it comes on...
this pisses me off btw.
3 gallons seems like a lot to me to be commin on

wouldnt that hurt the spark pluggs? if your car runs out of gas? just a question.

a car running out of gas IS NOT GOOD for the car

 

well i have the light but in my poorer days i have run it well below E and the light has never come on is it possible for a simpple thing like that to crap out??
