Default 86-87 integra rods in a D series motor?

I just read in a honda building book that you can use 86-87 integra D16a rods in my D16z6. They said the integra rods and bearings can hold 250hp compared to the D16z6 that can only hold 200hp. I have a turbo at 5 psi right now. if this is true then can't i put in the integra rods and boost 10-12psi.

You can use them, but for the cost of getting some you might as well spend a little bit more and get Eagles.

Junkyards have tons of 86-87 Integras (brown valve cover). The trick will be finding a good set of rods. A lot of the cars that are there are because they've suffered some sort of major engine failure.

Also keep in mind that in order to drop the oil pan, you have to remove the driver side axle and intermediate shaft. On the older Tegs, they block access to the oil pan.

So yeah, you could get them cheap, but it will cost you a lot of time....not a problem if you've got time to spare.

you couldnt pay me enough to go out and pull the rods out of some rusted up integra from a junkyard..and theres no way any junk yard is gonna pull out the rods for you and you prolly wouldnt want them to even if they would

if your gonna go through the trouble of changing rods you might as well get something new and that you know wont have any problems (eagles)

A yard by my house wanted $200 for the entire engine...
D16Z6 rods only good till 200hp ?? that's news to me... One put down 302Whp on stock rods.. That's almost twice 200crank hp...

they are thicker than the other D series rods, but they are made from a softer alloy. They also weigh more, and have a larger surface area for stress risers to form on. If your really worried about it, get a set of LS rods.

Almost any B rods can be made to fit the D crank... May take a little cutting/shaving here and there, but no less they will fit.

I'm thinking with D pistons, B rods, D crank you could make more HP than the block could handle.

Kinda OT, but I figure I'll ask since your the local D series Guru. What SOHC intake do you like, the edelbrock, or skunk II. I am running A-1 pistons with a 59300 cam in a Y8

A6 block, LS rods, A6 crank, Z6 pstion, and A6 head wouldn't be super high compression, I'm sure there is a B-rod that can be found that is the same lenth as the D rods... right ?

I'm still running a stock z6 intake!!!!!

No money=no fun!!!!!

Being a old school guy, I would lean towards the Edelbrock unit.
