Spec B Question
If I were to put spec b's, cam gears, retainers and valve springs in my car. What other minimum mods would I need to do for it to run well? I already have Mugen Header, Mugen Exhaust, AEM CAI and test pipe.
Thanks!
Thanks!
VAFC............

The bigger cams like the JDM spec headers better than the USDM versions, for the obvious reason (larger dia. collector).
So, even with your present Mugen (USDM?) setup ....
Is the ECU necessary immediately? or is that something I can do later once I want to tune it better?
Thanks so much for your help guys!

ECU is not needed.
hmm, could have saved you a few dollars about 6 months ago
good luck!Bryan
yup.
and a 2.5" collector header, as ed (zygspeed) has hinted...
If you have a jdm mugen header, vafc is all you need for the intended mods.

*OT: y'know honda should really have toda, spoon, and mugen products in their service shops... I mean at this rate, they should be honda optional equipment! All itr's will eventually have them, right?

As in, not everybody needs to know what's under the hood!
P.S. Looks like Comptech has the H/A OEM market (dealer installed warranty and all).
On a semi-related note, hopefully soon I will begin my ITR project:
Spec C's, TODA valvesprings, Portflow retainers, Spoon cam gears, TODA ITB's, TODA header, 2.5" exhaust, Power FC.
I'm still unsure as to what kind of fuel system I will need. Any suggestions? With these power mods and suspension and brakes by Spoon, I'll teach those pesky M3 drivers a thing or two on the track

Trying to keep her. I have got too much time, love, money into it to give her up so soon.

I think I'm gonna add "Gurl" or "Chick" to my username so more people will check out my posts!
Lets keep this on a need to know basis. hehehe

To quote Jack: "F-Comptech!"
I'd rather get dealer installed warranty from toda, mugen, and spoon products!

Oh so sad that comptech has that spot in dealer stores!

Maybe the reason Comptech is OK w/dealers is that it might just be considered a light mod, whereas the rest of the "good" stuff gets ya throwing codes and stuff (for example w/properly tuned spec B's).
After all dealers still have to do stuff that's emissions legal (for the most part), whereas the rest of "US" don't always make that a priority.
So much for the serious stuff, when we doing Deal's Gap?

Spend the money and get the appropriate ECU upgrade.
I am currently using Yoshio's, and although I had to tune (fine) the fuel, the basic ignition and fuel curves are much better suited to the Spec B's than the stock ECu and program is.
This is why he sells the cams WITH the ECU program. A VAFC will only allow for fine tuning of the fuel... not ignition.
Hope this helps...
