shifter woo's
Gotta problem, when I bought my GSR it had a shifter already installed in it. After about of year of driving it. The shifter itself felt to be really lose. I could still change gears and what not but if in gear, it would still move around like in neutral.
I looked under the car and saw the problem. (Sorry, dont know the names of these peices) The shifter itself at the bottom (where the bolt connects it too the shift linkage) didn't fit in the little half H part on the shift linkage. Apparently the guy before me used a bunch of washers to fill the the empty space so that the shifter seemed stuffed in place.
I went and bought another shifter that is supposed to be for the integra. The cylinder shaped peice at the bottom, agian wasn't big enough to fit in the space. So it still rattles around. Did the morons give me the wrong shifter or do I have missing peices?

The bottom of Civic shifters is smaller than Integra shifters, so most shifters out there are smaller so they can be used in Civics, and have spacers to use them w/ Integra linkages. The spacers that came w/ mine weren't thick enough, so I added several washers to take up the rest of the space. I also stuck in a lockwasher to keep everything pressed together so it wouldn't rattle. It's been over 2 years since I put it in and it still shifts beautifully, no rattles, no excessive freeplay or anything.
I found a rubber washer and put it on the shift lickage between the cylinder of the shifter and that helped alot. I just need to find another one and it'll be real nice.

I used stainless steel washers, for 2 reasons: 1) they won't rust like regular zinc washers will, and 2) they tend to be more uniform in thickness than plain zinc washers. I put the washers on that throughbolt that goes thru the linkage and shifter.

That would be called a U
What kind of short shifter did you buy? My skunk2 came with all spacers needed to fill up the U. The same result could be obtained from simple washers.

http://www.mcmaster.com will have something but it takes a bit of digging around the site. I'd swing by an auto parts place and look around for some odd thing that will work.
I do have a stock '99 Gs-R shifter if you need one. It's barely used as I swapped it for a Neuspeed Short Shifter.
