How come my stock d15 sounds like it has vtec?
it's just the stock motor in my '90 crx dx. When I reach 3000 rpm at WOT, the motor seems to kick into vtec (revs faster, pulls harder, even has the vtec sound effect). why does it do that? I have stock everything except for k&n drop-in filter.
the ECU switchs to a richer fuel curve and the motor comes alive, thats what i've noticed on my d16a6 pretty much the same motor, just MPFI, and longer stroke

Yea, the CRX Si engine (D16A6), does the same thing it's the combo of the intake noise/roar and the feeling of the torque coming on and the engine pulling harder over 4.5-5k. That's just the way hondas feel under power. They make more torque higher up in the powerband, than they do down low. And NO you don't have VTEC. LOL
