167 hp and 126.4 ft lb. About what I was expecting.

The torque is very impressive, as expected. The HP numbers are also much more reasonable than some of the numbers we've seen. Do you know what make/model the dynometer was? Are these figures corrected?

Yes, the figure was corrected. It was a Dynojet, that's about all I know.

I didn't think that a jump when the VTECc am comes on was supposed to be there. The other dyno was really smooth and most people including myself don't feel any big dip or jump in the torque curve when test driving it.

red97gsr, I've driven the car for 2100 miles, and trust me....you can definitely feel/hear when the cam profiles change at 5700 rpm.

And for our Talon friend, anyone familiar with dynoes understands that the figure the dynojet gives is power at the wheels, the figure given by the manufacturer is power at the flywheel. Typical Hondas experience a 15-20% loss in power through the drivetrain.

On your dyno, I can see why you would feel the cam change. But when I test drove it, I definetly could hear a change in tone, but it didn't have the kick that your dyno shows. The change over was smooth like the GSR's where I didn't really feel the kick. My friend next test drove it, and he said the same exact thing. And many of the reviews that people posted on the web said that the changeover was smooth without the big kick either. Also, the crank dyno chart that Acura shows in brochures is very smooth without that big kick. Very strange.

The RSX-S without the new ECU program has a definite flat spot just before 6k. I bet this car was bought on release day, and needs to make a trip to the service dep for the update.

I've heard a bunch of times that there really was an ECU update also, but didn't know if it was for real or not. If it's for real, then would his car be making more power afterwards? Or is it just to smooth out the torque curve?

Not real sure. But I have driven before and after and it feels much stronger. Without the update, it was hard to even chirp the tires into 2nd. After the update, I will catch a good wheel into second and even chirp into 3rd. Not that that is a real judge of power or anything.

Also, after the update the power is much smother without the jump around 6k when VTEC kicks in.

Hey don't get mad because my torque is as high as your horsepower!!!! Don't get me wrong the RSX is hot but not for the price, I rather build a hybrid... S13 SR20DET for example 215 hp , 204ft lbs of torque at 10 psi not bad but can be improved.. I had a
jdm B16a civic and a GSR before and I was very satisfied but I just wanted to do something different. I got tired of seeing civics runing around the metro ATL.... But maybe I see ya on the road one day but remember one thing I'm not stock noo more

A high torque number on a forced induction motor, who'd have guessed, eh?

200hp at the flywheel....with 15 to 20% loss at the wheels...its about right!

I think a Hybrid can be built faster to beat an Rsx in drag/road racing, but the Rsx is a lot nicer than a track beater

Sweet Jeebus!............That's quite the jump at switchover! I thought VTC was supposed to help smooth that curve out.

What's the weight of that car prodigy? power to weight ratio? It'd be fun to get together with emmett and run 'em. You up for it?
