Default Volk Wheels: Bend easily??

Hey,
I am in the market for some new wheels. I was planning on going with some lightweight and cheap 15" Rotas or Konigs, but I saw a friend's completely tricked out M3 tonight and I decided I want more bling. Local roads are pretty shitty and hitting potholes and 2" vertical jumps in the road due to construction are not uncommon. I have some beefy 17" 27lbs rims that have stood up to the harsh conditions fine, but I see quite a few posts about bent Volk wheels and so I am hesitant to buy them. Are there any other dope wheels that are lightweight and sexy, but more robust? Lookin for 16" 4x100 <12lbs... What are you guys balling that are durable?

really depends on what size tire you run.

I run 45s now w/ my 17s and haven't had any issues... I am not sure what size tire I would need to maintain stock wheel/tire diameter with 16s, but that is what I would run most likely.

EDIT: For a 3rd gen teg btw

weight isn't everything. 27lb wheel can be a ton weaker than a 8lb forged rim. Volk =

if you bend a volk you probably would have cracked any other rim.

thank you. volks arent weak by any means. peopleseem to think certain rims are indestructible, but the fact of the matter is that if you hit a big enough pothole it will bend or crack ANY wheel.

here's what happened to my volk se37k after hitting a huge pothole in NJ at 70mph:

i took it to a rim shop and frankly the guy working there was amazed. he said that the wheel should have cracked... instead, i was able to drive on this volk for 800 miles (my tire still held air!) and i was able to get back from NY to Chicago. try finding a rota that will do that for you.

IMO volk wheels are pretty strong. I drove through a bunch of potholes and bumps at highway speed but did not witness any bend on the wheels. But I think what tires you use will also make a difference.

that wheel damage looks just like my 2 wheels...i bent my racinghart cp8R's on a big construction hole... they are forged, but they still bent... why buy an expensive forged wheel when you can get a cheaper wheel that still looks good...cause they will both get messed up on a pothole.

volk wheels are one of the best combination of lightness and strength you can get. Also most of them look bad ***. Ive owned three sets of volks and would def recommend getting them if you can afford it.

That is my concern... I am not too excited about throwing money away on overpriced JDM crap, unless it truly is a much better product.

regardless of which wheel you get just be careful when you drive. like said before if you hit a pothole that will bend a volk its gonna destroy any other rim. so if you have the cash get volks.

I remember I usto have a set of AVS AV3's in 17", and I let my friend barrow my ride for the night... He was running from the cops, and he went through some parking lot at 80MPH trying to loose them. Anyways when he was haulin *** throught the lot he hit like 5 speed bumps at 80MPH, so he says and dinged all of them! They were dings not dents, so I would have to say that you would have to hit something pretty hard to **** up some Volks because the speed bumps that he hit were the small tall ones. By the way he got away from the cops, and you can get the dents out of the lip by hitting them with a brass hammer and it won't **** them up! ;}
