Integra: Wheels
Hey everyone,
I want to pick up some new wheels before this season starts out. Right now I'm riding on the stock "LS Mesh" 15" wheels with stock Michelins. I don't want to compete on these heavy rims and crappy rubber, so I'd like to get some suggestions.
I want one set of rims to use all the time (in the summertime). I'll probably put Falken Azenis or Bridgestone Potenza S-O3 Pole Position rubber on them. I'm thinking about a 16" x 7" wheel, lightweight, good looking, strong, and cheap. I'd be alright with a lightly used set.
What wheels do you guys recommend for an Autocrossing Teg? 16x7 or is there a better size for me? What weight range should I be looking at?
Thanks!
Ben

I run 16*7 slipstreams. The bad thing about 16 inch wheels and wanting to run azenis. The azenis come in a 215/45/16 which is alittle wide if you don't get the offsets correct on the wheels. I run 205/45/16 kumho ecsta 712's. I like the size of the wheels and tires. I have autocrossed the kumhos three times and drove them about 3K over the end of the summer. They aren't a very good autocrossing tire but good for the price. Let me know if you need to see some pictures of them.
i personally think you'd benefit much more from track time opposed to new 'lightweight' wheels.. if you're wanting to add a lil bling to your ride go with the wheels, but you will have no problems learning on your "heavy rims." i know several people that run on stock 'heavy' honda wheels and they are quite competitive on a local level.. my vote is spend your money on new tires and dump the leftover money into tracktime & an evolution school.. unless like i said before, you want your car to look a little nicer with some new shiny 16's.. and no, there's nothing wrong with that!
A lot of people will suggest to just practice at first but I have personaly autocrossed on those stock Michelins and I can say they are pure crap.
Get yourself some Azenis for you stock rims. Once you figure out what class you want to compete in get a lightweight rim that fits in that class. Don't go larger then 15 or else your teg will be *** slow.

I've been autocrossing on 16x7 wheels for three years. It's difficult to find the rubber in the right size for that wheel. So this year, I'm breaking down and buying some 15 x 6.5 wheels. I'd recommend you stick with 15 x 6.5 if you hope to run the most popular/comptetive street tires.

Whatever you do, be careful, or you'll end up with a garage full of wheels and tires like me. I now have 4 black Diamond Racing 13x7s, 5 silver Diamond Racing 13x7s, 4 Panasport UL 13x7s, 4 Mazda OEM 13x5s, and 4 Mazda OEM 14x5.5s. That's 21 wheels for one car!
Are you planning to run STS or Street Prepared? If STS, keep allseasons on your stock rims and get a lightweight 15x7 (15x7.5 if you can find one) and mount Azenis. If SP, you have some choices to make - ideally you'd want 13", but AFAIK only the modular Panasports come in those sizes and fit over the brakes (maybe the Lenso VPD Tom Slick as well) and mount some Toyo RA-1 or Kumho V700 Victoracers.

Those plastic POS rings that Edge Racing gave me lasted about 3 track events before cracking apart.
That said, the Pro Race is what I'd buy if I were doing it today.

yea I agree, i went with 7 inch over 6.5 for that reason, but 7.5 is a wide rim on a teg.
So anyone know team dynamic racing's pro race 1, any mail orders taht sell it

205/55/16 will fit on a 7'' rim just fine. I have 16 x 7 rims and thats the tire size I run. Max you'd want to run on a 7'' rim is 225. After that it starts getting really sloppy.
