ticking noise
I have a 90 accord dx ...It has 179000 miles on it i have been out of work for awhile and didnt not have the funds to change the oil when needed so it was probley 6000 miles behind. I changed it yesterday and it is makeing a mild ticking sound on the driver side of the motor . I was thinking it might have knocked a valve out of wack or something but i have not checked yet . II also have a altenator belt that is bad too. Has anyone had this happen and does anyone know how to fix it......?

The F22's were notorious for their lil bit of valvetrain noise (aka... sewing machine engine). Adjusting the valve lash usually seems to help a bit. If you went 6000 miles on your oil just once, as long as it was kept full or close to it, there shouldn't be any damage done. I go 5000 between oil changes every time for the last 3 years (I use synthetic though) and haven't had any problems. Which brand of oil filter did you use when you changed the oil? Cuz if you used Fram, or a Honda filter made in Canada (which is also made by Fram), then most likely you will get a ticking sound from that due to oil starvation at startup. Frams use shitty bypass valves that don't work right most of the time, so when you first start up you'll hear the tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick valve train noise until the oil is allowed to flow.
yes i used a fram filter but the noise is not just when you start the car up it is through out the driveing ranges. its comming from the driver side of the motor it does it mostley trhough first and second gear could the filter be bad then not letting prober flow of the oil. this didnt happen tell i changed the oil the motor otherwise was pretty quiet. i just hope nothing is dameged. the noise doesent happen when you start the car up it happends when you rev the motor or driveing the car
it is a clatter like dadadadadada it sounds like metal hitting somthing . i took off the valve cover and no signs of that so..........
i dont know. my boss says it is probelly the oil in it is thin cuase it is new he said to put oil treatment in it and i also need to check the valve to see if they are fine . the preformance of the car is still fine it feels that i have not lost that much power i need to fix it thou .
.........will it needs to be fixed until i can get the h22 in it...........

I've found with my F22A1 when i run say castrol gtx or whatever in it, the valve train seems to be a bit louder, than when i run mobil 1 synthetic. So i think the synthetic quiets it down a bit. Just an observation from my engine, I dont know if it applies to anybody else.
