how can you tell the difference between a d16z6, y8, or a vtec-e head???
like the topic says what can you look at to tell what engine the vtec head came off of ??? just wondering anyone who can help out i would app. it thanks ahead of time
the easy way would be to check the head casting
i THINK it goes like this
P28 = z6
P2P = y8
??? = vtec-e

You can tell the difference between the y8 and z6 by looking at where the distributor mounts on.. the y8 will directly accept an OBD0 distributor while the z6 will not. To check for VTEC-E, just take the valve cover off. VTEC-E is just 12valve->16valve "VTEC", so there will not be any extra lobes.
