i/h/e Modification advice
I will soon be running a mugen jdm 4-1, Fujitsubo exaust and J's intake.
With these bolt-on mods, is it recommend that I get a V-AFC and FPR and get the car tuned. Or is this overkill for the mods that I have installed?
Also, can my engine be adversely affected by adding these new components and not tuning the engine to work with them.
thoughts?

you can run a i/h/e setup without being tuned and still see power and good results from your car. but tuning will give you a better setup and will set your fuel at increments where it fits the car better. if you can make it a dyno and find a good tuner then yes I suggest getting a vafc to do some tuning. it never hurts to tune your car. your definately making more power then stock with your setup (it may not be that much but you are adding power). I would suggest getting a hi-flow cat too if you have a stock cat.

Get the V-AFC installed by someone who knows what they are doing. Also - SOLDER all connections and protect from oxidation.
V-AFC's are well known to cause electrical gremlins - turning your once reliable Type R into the equivalent of a late 70's British sports car on a rainy day.
All those bolt-on mods - would be fine with the stock ECU. Just reset the ECU after adding the mods (disconnect battery for 10 min).
The Mugen header will give you a CEL - and you will need a custom catalytic converter to work with it (IM SMSP for details on a cat that you will need). The JDM Mugen header is meant to work with the JDM catalytic converter which is smaller and shorter than the USDM one - as well the inlet piping will be different size.

You are going to want a cat that is about 12" long to go between the mugen header and fujitsubo exhaust.
Mike M knows the carsound cat model you need.. I'm sure SMSP does as well.

Better yet, get a harness from Kenji for your V-AFC, plug and play

Nope, unless you get a different ecu completely, but that really isn't as good as custom tuning for YOUR engine.
Aamir - you don't have to tune. I had i/h/e similar to yours, the car ran GREAT, with more power than just i/h, or stock. Later on, if you decide you want to get hondata, it would be agreat investment and net you more power and a smoother tq/hp curve, but it is by no means necessary.

Do you all recommend the actual JDM Cat. converter or a carsound. I have read many posts regarding carsound's failing. Can I pass emissions with a JDM cat?
