you don't always need a new one, only if it is deteriorated or messed up in any way. just go to the dealership and ask for a valve cover gasket for a B-series motor if urs is bad.

Dunno man.. but use some thread locker on the valve cover nuts when you put them back on.

You will need Honda bond otherwise it will leak when you put it back on. It seals the rubber to the head.

You can get gasket sealant at your parts store. Just dab some on the flat spots of the gasket. Be careful not to tear it when taking it off, and be sure its on correctly when you torque down the VC, and you should be able to reuse it numerous times.

Also, don't overtighten the bolts as they are prone to snapping. Tighten down the nuts in a couple of steps and torque it down to 7.2 lb-ft.

btw... i mighta read it wrong... but you may be confusing your valve cover gasket with a head gasket. Valve cover gasket doesn't affect compression.... and is 100 times easier to replace...heh heh heh...
