Thinking about painting my evo black
I've been thinking about buying some high temp flat black paint and spraying the axle back portion of my exhaust black (maybe leave the tip crome, i dunno). I have already read all the other posts on the topic (yes some people really do use the search function). what I want to know from you guys is do you think I could do it with the muffler still on the car and just use some newspaper and tape off all the exposed areas that i don't want to get paint on? it's been on there for a while and i think the bolts are probably completely rusted up......and yes....i'm lazy when it comes to things like preping for painting.
also, any opinions on the idea of painting your exhause flat black to kill the bling?

the evo is still pretty big... the tip and everything.. but i guess the black color will disquise it somewhat
i think i'd be better to take it off.. if u just tape off everything u don't want painted and just spray paint the axleback.. u might miss some spots.. and it'll be more likely for the paint to drip and that'll look bad...

well yeah you're right...i wish my evo wasn't so big. i actually wish i had a lot smaller exhaust like the RS*R...but money is the main factor there. my cat has also decided to crap out...so i have to get a new one sometime soon. it's rattling a lot when it's cold.

That's what I have, OEM ITR cat-back w/bottle neck removed.
But about painting the exhaust, you should just take the axle back portion off and do it right. Sand it a little, primer if needed, then some light coats of high temp flat black paint. When i was swapping cat-backs, the bolts from my N1 were rusted on there, i had to use my dremmel to cut them off. and when you put the axle back, back on make sure you use stainless steel bolts, nuts, and washers. Now whenever i buy something metal that is exposed to the elements, it has to be stainless. I hate rust
