Default Engine Build Constructive Critisism

Please do not flame, if you disagree with certain aspects please explain why, and what you think would be the remedy for that problem.
I am in the process of making an NA LS/VTEC engine, B18B with P73 Head (JDM TypeR).

Stroke: 89mm (stock)
Rod Length: 141.178mm (gives R/S ratio of 1.586)
Deck Height: 211.84mm (stock)
Deck Clearance: 0.762mm (stock for TypeR, gives proper valve clearance but if can someone can show me that it is safer to go lower, which in turn gives a better burn, i will)
Piston Compression Height: 25.4mm (This is as small as I want to go)
Cylinder Head Volume: 42.7cc (Stock TypeR)
Piston Head Volume: -3.731cc (Roller Wave Piston)
Compression Ratio: 11:1
Cylinder Bore: 82mm (+1mm Bore)
Gasket Bore: 82mm (Not sure how the gasket bore affects the engine, please comment)

The pistons will be Endyn Roller Wave Pistons, the rods will be Crower rods...
The camshafts will be Skunk2 Stage 2 and with them will be Skunk2 Valvesprings
Skunk2 Intake Manifold and Comptech Extended 4-2-1 Racing Header will be on there as well....

Please comment on what could be improved and how you would go about doing it...

Why the Skunk2 IM? ITR IM is cheaper and no real difference between the two, HP wise. A larger bore throttle body would not hurt, in the neighborhood of 66-68mm. Air intake-AEM CAI, Comptech icebox, or equivalent. Bigger fuel injectors-310cc minimum. Engine management-Hondata, AEM EMS, Motec etc. High flow cat and 2 1/2 " cat back exhaust system.

Agree. I like the ITR mani better.

You might want to contact Bert-O for you OE parts needs. He's a really nice guy and has helped me tremendously.

don't forget a nice clutch and flywheel
I like Exedy flywheels
Also a crank pulley
If you are running just the alternator, have your stock pulley cut, or run an Unorothod Racing Ultra Race pulley.
Also ahve the whole rotating assembly balanced

Good point, Skunk2 and ITR are almost exactly the same, so when it comes time to buy my maifold, I will get whichever I can get a better deal for.

Larger Bore Throttle Body has already been decided on, just didn't list it.. 68mm

Comptech Icebox is my intake of choice, again just didn't list it.

Bigger Fuel Injectors I do not think will be necessary, ITR fuel injectors should deliver plenty of fuel for an NA application. However once this engine is running and has been tuned I will see if it would help.

Engine Management will of course come in good time, as it is big money, for now a JDM ITR ECU will be fine along with VAFC tuning

Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter will not be necessary, the Comptech Extended 4-2-1 Racing Header is too long and connects directly to the exhaust system. The exhaust system ends with the Hytech exhaust which is 2.5" piping.

The tranny stuff has been decided so let's keep it to the engine....

A crank pulley will be installed along with power steering and alternator pullies...

And beleive me I'm not going to spend this much money and not have it balanced lol

Anyone have any suggestions on the measurements?

ITR fuel injectors are 240cc/min. That will barely support 190whp at 60psi fuel pressure.

Yikes, I thought 240cc/min could hold 220whp (which is my basic goal), and then I would switch to larger injectors when I finish up with EMS and other goodies, hopefully putting down 250whp. But I definately want to reach that 220whp first, so what brand would you recommend?

RC, at least 310`s. You`ll obvioulsy need to upgrade your pump, t00.

i also second the injectors, and pump.

i have a set up thats a little bit less extreme than yours and i am running lean with integra 240cc injectors...they just are not enough...

walbro 255 literperhour fuel pump and RC 310 cc injects... you should have all the fuel you need.
