Timing, fouled plugs, bad gas, lack of compression.

Check your timing, do a compression test, and change your plugs.

If ur getting spark and fuel the vehicle should start, but maybe ur getting fuel and spark at the wrong time. Check ur valve timing, possible the timing belt may have jumped time. Also I would check engine compression using a compression tester to check the mechanical condition of the engine. Check all vacuum hoses and electrical connnections. Let me know how it goes! Hope this helps! Where are u checking for spark? at the coil or spark plug wire? if u have spark at the coil, check for spark at the plug wires also. Remove spark plugs and check for fouled and flooded spark plugs, check for cracks in distributor cap causing a short to ground. I've seen a Honda civic with both spark and fuel not start, the reason was the cap had a crack in it and spark was leaking to ground before it got distributed to the rotor, this occured in wet weather. Visuallly inspected everything under the hood and look for anything that make have come loose or connectors that are corroded. Let me know how it goes! Good Luck!

A tear down is not needed to confirm for bent valves. They just need to perform a leak down test. This will tell them if a valve is damaged.

actually this is a newer engine and i have already checked and got a different distributor, and plugs. it is very weird. the car was running great and one day went out to start it and just out of the blue no start. i traced spark all the way to the plug. im getting fuel all the way through the injectors. thanks for the replies keep em coming. thanks CHRIS

If you are getting spark and fuel. I would check the timing and make sure its not a couple teeth off. And do a Cylinder Leakdown Test. Hope this helps you

Or just that there's fuel pressure in the rail?

just to make sure... when you turn your key to START, you do hear the fuel pump charging for 2 seconds when your CEL comes on right?
