Integra overheated! Now possible engine damge?
my dad was driving my car up to Reno, on the way there the car overheated because of the cheap *** replacement radiator we got from autozone was leaking from the cap area. He told me the temp. went all the way to the red then he pulled over. when he got back i ran a compression test and it was really really low. Like #1 150, #2 120, #3 120, and #4 160. Also the check engin light came on and its giving me a C.E.L. code 71 whish is a misfire in cyl. #1, i was just thinking of buying a long block with low miles and just swapping out the old one. Does anyone know where i can get a long block that will work with a 97 integra LS? I checked hmotorsonline and all the posted on their site was a 94-95 ls long block will this work or will i have a problem. Please let me know any help is appreciated

Looking at the numbers from your Compression test.... Yes, your engine is damaged. That is assuming you did the test correctly.

please ensure that you performed the test correctly and didnt back the motor up. I had similar results the comp. testing my nissan and i backed it up just alittle bit, it jumped time just a few degrees, and the results were way off. Also, dont bump the motor just because. Consider machine work. Its alot cheaper if thats whats needed if things are warped and such. Just find out for sure whats going on before getting too ahead of yourself.

back the engine up? i ran the same compression test procedure and i pulled 190 psi on all four cylinders in my del sol. I can get a long block for $750 but it says its for a 94-95 LS (OBD-1), would it be possible to use that engine on a 97 LS (OBD-2) what would i need to swap out from my old engine? Also does anyone else know other places where they sell LS long blocks?

no doubt. A much more educating test for engine condition.
