Default clutch pedal stays on ground

I got in my car tonight and the pedal stays on the ground not letting me get into gear. I observed the clutch pedal and noticed some grey grease coming from what i think was the master cylinder. Then i jacked my car up and under the car by the firewall was that grey grease sparyed all over the place. Could this be my master cylinder that is shot or what please help thanks

Check your fluid in master cylinder under the hood.

It sounds to me like your cylinder is shot. Fluid like that means a bad leak. How many miles are on it? You can usually pick up one on EBAY or in the forums.

that is definatly your master cylinder, check the fluid level in your resevior. remeber it is best to replace both the master cylinder and the slave cylinder. they go hand in hand and most of the time and in all my experiences when one gets replaced the other will go out right afterwards. you can get a two package deal on ebay. good luck to you

The seal around the shaft on the master cylinder seems to be the problem. The seal may be worn and needs to replaced. If you're seeing Grey grease, chances are you were overdue for a flush anyways.
