ripped dash out. having problems
sorry, im new to wiring stuff so if i don't use the proper terms don't kill me. i ripped the dash out tonight and took the wiring harness for the gauges and the gauge cluster and they are just sitting in the same spot without the dash. well anyways, i hook all of it up and see that i have forgotten where one plug went. i think it went to the back of the steering wheel where the wipers hook up. if im not mistaken it has two rows of prongs. 3 prongs in one row and 2 in the other, it fits in the back where it seems to hook up to the wind shield wiper controller by the steering wheel but they are still not working. also my gauge cluster isn't lighting up. did i screw something up?

Yes... I believe the connector is the same for the 2 things. Try to flip them around and that should get it to work! Also, make sure all the other harness are plugged in, there is one running right next to your audio console, right about where your knee will be when driving, a little up under the dash, and that connects the rest of the harness to the gauge cluster harness and stuff... make sure thats in and tight.
I missed that one a while back and was stumped... my brother found it and I was good to go!

i might be stupid but yeah, i still can't find it. so im going to post pictures of what i got. if anyone can help me id be very grateful.
we didn't know if i blew a fuse or what, maybe lost it but heres a picture of some of the fuses
heres the empty place that we can't figure out what went in it.

heres part of the harness that was connect to most of the air conditioning but maybe there was something we forgot to hook back up.
here's the other part of the harness that i can't remember where to hook up.
Yeah, i'm a dumb *** for not labeling stuff, but we all live and learn i guess.

The ones that are empty, are just that. Empty. Nothing was ever in them, they might be for something in a different country but over here there nothing. This should help you out more.

the large white plug is for your radio the 2 cream ones are for you a/c control and the cream one with the exposed wires plugs into another plug to lights up your ashtray and is a 12v source for you cigarrette lighter...... anything else?

also looks like you are installing a 90-91 harness onto a 88-89 harness?? if so you will be missing a plug for the hazard light switch since it is located on your gauge cover not on you steering column anymore so you might have to do some tapping into for that..
nah, same wiring harness as i had before. and i checked all the plugs and made sure they were nice and tight and didn't see anything else that looked like it should have a plug in it. so the lights in my odometer are still not coming on and the wipers are still not working. although before i had even started the project the wipers moved extremely slow, even when they were on high they went about as fast as my wipers on my ek when the were set on slow
so maybe the wiper motor went out. im really stuck heh. the only thing i still can't figure out is this
its right by the wipper controls and thats where i think my problem is, theres just no connection between it and the wiper motor. but who knows maybe i am wrong and there was nothing there to begin with. ill def. make sure i label everything if i ever have to do this again.

well the plug thats on the left side of ur cluster looks like the one for the light dimmer switch... and if you have taken the plugs out of the undrdash fuse box recheck them 2 two plugs are identical.... good luck
okay, i got the lights on the odometer to work again. when i had taken out the dash i also removed the brightness switch. well i got to thinking that maybe i had turned them all the way down before removing the switch so i hooked it back up and they light up. so i turned the switch all the way up then unplugged the switch again and they go off. so i guess my solution for that problem right now is just to keep the switch there.
now all i have to do is figure out whats going on with my windshield wipers.

well, i got the windshield wipers to work. i was kinda bored today so i decided to try my luck with them one more time. i found that when i connected the dimmer switch to the harness it made my odometer lights work so i got all my ac and heater controls and hooked them up to the harness in hopes that the wipers might somehow magically work. well, maybe by a freak occurance, but the wipers started to work. why? i really have no idea. anyways, its good that they are working, but the speed when set on high will go at a steady pace and then all of a sudden slow down, then speed back up and my engine (blown head gasket) usually sits at about 1500 rpm and with the a.c. on it would go to 2000 rpm and now for some reason its gone to about 800 rpm and kinda fluctuates. im not too worried about the motor because of the swap that is soon to come, but i was wondering about the windshield wiper motor. do you think i should just replace it?
