i was reaching for my cell phone in my pocket and i accidentally punched the gas while in idle..... i hear this "poof" sound from under the hood. it sounded like a tube fell off or something. i have no clue of what it was. i still drove around fine... after driving around, i tried to punch it on purpose this time. same "pop/poof" sound.
What is dat sound?

Does it do it all the time, or did it just happen that once? I would check under the hood and inspect all of the hoses, just to be sure. If all looks well then it most likely is the intake making that noise - which is okay.
I have no clue what you all are talking about. My intake hisses a lot because it sucks some mad air. However, It's never popped. I even drove around with the Noc sensor not hooked up. I ran WOT through all 5 gears in the Y1 and no pops. When the Noc was not hooked up right the rev limiter would kick in early. I mean way early. Zero popping at all. I mean I am driving around with the wires just electrical tapped in testing everything out. I've not finished up yet. Are you sure you don't have a sensor going bad? I don't believe in rev limitors but I can stand on it at idle and come close to rev lim and still nothing. It's almost like a well oiled machine.

all my hoses seem ok, its air for sure...
it happend just today too... when i punched the gas on a downshift to 3rd.
it sounded like a deep throated air gun.
im not liking this...
my intake is no-name. i even have that tube that connects to the valve cover. it's still attached, so it wasnt that going off..
i also have dpfi. i dont like this thing, its so hard to clean the inside

if your not throwing any codes off the top of my head I'm not sure. I know my TB sticks but I'll be fixing that here shortly. I'm gonna pull it and clean it. You know the other thing is possibly your map maybe starting to go. Or your tps. Although on Honda's it's usually idle issues with Tps. Somethings my del sol did on an unplugged map was throw code, throw tons of fuel. Car reaked of it. poor idle and hard to keep running and if you got into it. It's would hesitate and then take off like a mad rabbit but then when you let up it would pop. Not in the intake. I have a custom cold air intake with projections and a relocated battery and only thing i get is kewl *** sucking noise. when i went to play pool I tried to get it to pop. It would not do it. Chripped the tires a couple of times but nothing big. It pops because I think it's running a little rich but other wise it's fine.
I used to get that sound all the time with my old car and I had an intake. It really only happened when I was cruising and went to WoT and I am under the impression that's it's just the sound of the air filling the vaccuum of the throttle body. If you're really concerned about it you can always have a mechanic look at it
