Koni's or Tokico's for drag racing and spring rates for ground controls
ok im going to purchase my suspension setup this week and i searched already and couldn't find what i was looking for so i figured i make a post.So here are my questions. 1 which is better for drag racing koni yellows or tokico illuminas. 2 on ground controls i am thinking about what spring rates to ask for. I was thinking of something like somewhere in the lines of 500-700 on the front and 800-1000 on the rear. Crazy? what setup are u guys running? What is the best setup for the track?( if u need to know i have a 92 hatchback and im going to be running a ls motor with boost). Spread the knowledge to me my fellow racers.
is this going to be a full drag setup or street setup as well. the high rate spring for the rear is a good choice for Race days only. but not recommended for street driving.
Diff people will have mixed feelings with the Tokico and Koni setup. I prefer the Koni myself overall.

I too would recommend Konis....The Tokicos(sp) have a tendancy to blow prematurely...Im sure some of you guys can relate....
...As far as spring rate goes..u have to go with what you can tolerate...There is always a compromise between a race setup and a street setup...A higher rate would be better for race days but not for ur *** on the street all day...
It goes back to a very deep saying, "What do you want a street car or a race car, you cant have both!"

it is understandable that the ride would be harsh on the streets with drag springs, which i can tolerate, but, with that high of a spring rate on the streets, would it cause any chassis or suspension damage?

yup and possible back problems too.... my chest and back hurt after driving with solid rear suspension after one day.

I'd like to know the same. So what would be decent for street and strip for the rear? 800? I only drive my car a couple days a week so I think I could tolerate a higher spring rate. As for struts..what about the AGX?

I would recommend Koni yellows. Your exact spring rate depends on the car, street car, track only, etc. You would want STIFF suspension in the rear of the car so it doesnt squat when you launch
