I don't have HID in my Civic. But a friend with 2000 BMW 328Ci belong to a Bimmer club so we could compare. And from the passenger seat, there is a noticable difference with HID and halogen bulb. It take a bit getting use to cause objects seems more true in color, instead of "bleach yellow" of halogen. HID is suppose to be 3X brighter, but judging from the eye sitting in the passenger seat, I could not really tell if it's 3X. But it is brighter.

I would do the conversion if the price was right (not crazy prices) and there is someone in my local area who can do it. I'm more into HID for using less wattage and pumping out more light. Cause I need more light at times. The cool factor is all bonus.

99% of the time I don't use highbeam so it does not matter to me. When I did need it in heavy fog (few times a year) I think some amber fogs would be better for the job.

HIDs in all of mine and my friends cars. They are worth the while. You can get the online for $350. The work great and take about 10 mins to wire. The hard part is mounting the ballasts.

Stan: does the beam pattern spread out far enough so under most conditions you wouldn't need high beams?

OK, I should say "bad weather." Rain, fog, dark country road, whatever cause the low beam just don't put out enough light. The point I was trying to make is that I could live without highbeam, if I have fogs.

The HIDS fill out both area's both high and low. There are fogs on her car but we use them when we drive in potholed avenues to fill in the front ~ three foot dark area where the headlights do hit.

The HIDS are great. I have no regrets. I can read signs from distances that would make you laugh.

I had trouble driving the Jetta at night because I was so spoiled by HIDs.
