Default Opinions please....

Well I never thought I would say this, but I'm getting ready to sell my ITR. I really love the car, but given that my warranty is about to run in the next couple of months, I figure now to be the best time to sell it, not that most of the stuff on the car would be warrantied any way, but I figure it'll make the car more attractive if it still has some warranty left. Any way, I was just wondering what the going rate for a well done ITR is lately.

The car is an 01' Phoenix Yellow ITR with about 32 thousand miles, and loads and loads of stuff done to it. Oh yeah, I'm not looking to part it out, so dont even ask!!!

JDM OEM HID conversion
Ohlins coilovers
Skunk2/Engals camber kits
very nice stereo w custom fiberglass enclosure for the TV (MB Q mids and highs, alpine/nackamichi everything else)
Sprint Hart(Racing Hart in japan) CP-035 (17" in winning gold)
Mugen Exhaust, custom comptech test pipe, JDM DC 4-1
Comptech cold box, Ericks racing TB
Hondata
Toda Spec-C cams, Toda cam gears and timing belt
Darton Sleeves, JE pistons, crower rods
Skunk2 Springs and retainers
Rev valves
Ferrea valve guides
brand new ITR factory tranny, less than a thousand miles, perfect.

And lots of other stuff I'm just too lazy to list at the moment. I figure that's enough to give you guys at least a good idea. The car was done very well....all engine work done by Steven Thompson at Pacific Performance, and all tunning done by Frank Smith of South Florida Performance.

Won't have any pics for a couple weeks or anything, but I'm sure you all already know what an ITR with a JDM conversion looks like.

Just give me some opinions, what do you think I can get for it...be realistic. I dont mind sitting on it for a couple months to find the right buyer, I also dont mind spending a couple hundred bucks on advertising to get the right buyer either.

Thanks for the input.....

Later,
Aj

if you have all the stock parts for the new owner, i'd think you'd have a better chance of selling, whatever the price you may fix yourself on.

I would say the car would go for around 20k, unless you found someone looking for all of those mods. When I was looking for an 'R', I wanted a relatively stock one; prefer to do my own mods. You don't know how bad or good the mechanic who worked on the car was when you buy a modded car. I think that many potential car buyers feel the same way. Good luck selling the 'R'.

As much as I didn't want to believe it, many told me that modifications do not add value to a car. It would be an extremely rare find in having someone who actually pays extra for your modifications. They see these types of things put/installed on the car and think "gee, i bet he does some sort of racing or beats on it." That's why we buy go fast parts though

Your best bet is to pull your modifications off and return everything to as stock as possible and you will get your money back. I had my car for sale for 3 months with $6,000 of modifications. Car never sold. Not near as many hits as i thought i would have. Had the car in Autotader as well as Honda-Tech.

This really is a buyer's market for ITR'.s There are a lot of them out there right now bringing the prices down on them dramatically. What people used to pay for them a year and a half ago has changed. I would be really surprised if you sold your car the way it sits to someone you don't already know. Good luck in the future.

Well, I'm not as unrealistic to think that I will get like 30 grand for the car or anything, but I would like to start out asking around 25, so this way by the time people start to play the numbers game I can actually get the money I want for the car.

As far as the mods go, I dont have any stock parts left, and wouldn't waste the time or energy in replacing them any way. I'm in no rush at all to sell the car, I really love it, so I have no problem waiting for the right buyer. I'm basically just tired of putting more money into it here any there, especially being a college student on a very limited budget.

I've had a number of offers on the car, but I'm not willing to let anyone drive it until I get a substancial deposit, which I think for the most part is pretty fair. I just dont want people running over to drive my car at every opportunity just cause they say they are interested. My engine components and all that cost me around ten G's, so I'm not to wild on the idea of just letting anyone jump in and drive.

In any case, I'll be up on the web for sale shortly, I'm sure you guys will see it....

warranty is almost out? in at least another year and 18k miles... not sure I'd be concerned about the warranty running out soon.. though it's mostly non-existant now anyways on your car.

As for price, 25k is way, way too high. You will NOT get much, if ANY over what a stock one would go for. You might not even get what a stock one can sell for.

I think you might be surprised....I know I wont get 25K, but it's a good starting point as I said in my last post, so it gives me some leway, cause if I start at like 22, then someone is going to want to pay 20, and so on.

As far as a modded car, I'll say it again, there is going to be someone out there who wants a modded car, not to say that I'll be able to sell it quickly at all, but I think I will be able to find the right buyer. I guess we'll just have to waite and find out.......
