If clutch master cylinder is shot....
well, it's not overly soaked (the carpet) but I can feel that it's moist. Also, my car's symptorms are that the shifter won't go into gear at a dead stop, but occassionally I can get it in and once I can get it into gear (if I don't move anywhere) I can shift to all gears, but once I get moving, it's really hard to get it into gear again!! Funny thing is that from what I recall, there wasn't a huge loss in clutch fluid!
we tried that when we were bleeding the clutch and he said it was moving. First of all, how far should normal travel be for it? Secondly, what else could it be?
Also, when your clutch MC was leaking, did you have the same problems as me and was your shift fork still moving?

Pump the clutch pedal repeatedly & see how far it goes. Maybe it'll go a bit farther each time you pump it. That can give you an idea how far it's supposed to go. Maybe someone with a good clutch can measure the motion for you. I wanna guess 3/4 inch, but it's been a while since I watched it, & I never actually measured it.
Then watch it while holding the pedal all the way to the floor. If the MC is bypassing, the fork will slowly return to its rest position, as if you were slowly lifting the pedal. This means it's internally leaking back into the reservoir.
Leakage along the piston rod into your carpeting isn't the same thing, it's just a mess & you're always losing fluid. But often the MC can have both problems.
