Another question... can anyone tell me how to use a buffer?? I have one, but I have never actually used it. Are there any good tutorials out there on the 'net??
TIA

Whoa, hey I just posted about your front bumper paint job. I didn't notice that you live in Seattle. I live in Bellevue, moving to Seattle soon. Queen Anne. Anyway, I have been detailing cars for awhile, havent used a rotory buffer too much, but they work very well. Don't press hard while doing it. Have the cotton padding very clean, and car aswell. Since the rotory buffer buffs very easy, make sure you apply more wax/polish then regularly; like when hand buffing. I recommend Meguiar's professional products #7 and #26. Any car wash soap will work fine! Peace.

hey, i do live in the seattle area...actually around bothell, but i'd rather say seattle, cuz people know where that is. anyways, thanks for your help on both of my recent posts. about the buffer though, do you apply the wax with the buffer, or are you using the buffer to remove it and polish?? I have never really been sure.

I have always applied wax by hand. Never thought of appling by buffer. Try both ways, see what works better for you. I believe by buffer it will take longer and harder to do.
Thing is you want to apply wax by hand because you can wax in up and down motion. This way you get no swirl marks, but since the wax is on the paint, when buffed the paint is protected. But if paint it totally clean both ways should work fine without swirl marks.

apply the wax from a squirt bottle ... i use those mustard/ketchup bottles from picnics ... and the spread and remove with the orbital ... clean up the spray afterward with a clean rag or cheese cloth

It is also recommended that you use the rotary buffer up and down and side to side.

I used my rotary buffer the other day on my hood, and it worked like a charm. I need some more practice, but once i actually get it down, i think the results will be amazing. Thanks for your input guys.

Uh.... it's less time to do it with an orbital buffer. there is a less chance of creating swirl marks on the car with an orbital buffer because it mimics the action of thehand but it also goes up and down as it goes around.
