Do all 1992 Civic Models come with the VTEC wires pre-wired?
I had heard that all 1992 Civic Models (CX,DX,LX,EX,Si) all came with the same wiring harness that runs thru the firewall into the interier and ecu. I had seen it stated on another forum but when I called up the local honda dealer and checked the part numbers on the 1992 engine and interior wiring harnesses, they all came up with different part numbers when comparing Vtec and non-vtec models.
Looking at a 1992 Civic CX, I noticed that there were a few wires in the wiring harness clips, (Engine wire harness meets interior harness) in the engine compartment in front of the battery, that weren't used. Could this be some of the wiring that's for the VTEC Engine wire harness?
So is the Title/Topic statement true or false?

True. I haven't came across a 92 yet that would prove otherwise.

92 was the first year of OBD1. All trims are pre-wired for vtec. I GUESS that means you could say same harness.
I think honda realized they could save a couple cents after 92, but cutting back on a couple wires on specific trim levels...

I always refer members to Katman or mmueller on questions like this. Sorry fella's.
They KNOW this ***** backwards and forwards try them.
Search their posts or PM them.

All 1992 Civic EG's ARE pre-wired for VTEC on the shock tower. They do NOT have the wiring on the Engine harness if it was not a VTEC equipped car.

Katman and Poison and VTECVillain are 3 of the best wiring gurus here, you can learn alot just by searching their screennames in the members list and reading thier posts. That's what I did.
lol
HTH
PS I think the pre-wired VTEC is only 92-95 Civics, but search to make sure, I could be wrong. And BTW it's only pre-wired to the shock tower plugs, IT IS NOT, pre-wired on the engine harness.
EDIT: And PHiZ is good too.lol

The 92 Civic's were all prewired for VTEC but that's it. It's very rare for the 93's to be prewired but if you have a 92 then there's a 99.9% chance that it's going to have the VTEC wiring embedded in the cabin harness. I say 99.9% because there could be that one car that missed it so you never know.
Just get a Helm's manual or search on here for the wiring and how to identify it. Then take a few minutes to look at the wiring near your ECU plugs and that will be the deciding factor as to whether or not you have the VTEC wiring.
I had a Canadian 93 DX hatch (produced 2/93) and it did have the VTEC wiring embedded but everyone else I've talked to that has a 93 doesn't unless of course it came stock with a D16Z6 VTEC or D15Z1 VTEC-E motor.
Now for the 93-95 Civic's, only the Si and VX hatch and the EX coupe and sedan have the VTEC wiring embedded. That is unless you get a rare early 93 like I came across but that's not very likely

ok now does this just pertain to hatches? or is this basicly ANY 92 civic (ie. coupe, sedan, and all models)?
i have a 92 dx and the way i look at it the less wiring i have to do the better.

If I remember correctly, all 92 civic models have the pre-wired V-tec (to the ECU from shock tower)

just to clear things up....this came from a PM from Katman...
"yes, all 92 only models are all prewired for vtec, I know hatchbacks and coupes are, and I assume sedans are too. All you have to do is use an EX or Si engine harness on your car and presto..you have vtec, no wiring needed to perform....well except the knock sensor, unless you've had your ecu reprogrammed with a disabled KS."
