is this turbo worth it for b18c1?
hello everyone...just got back from the local pick-a-part. while there, i came across a turbo on an 80's thunderbird. mileage read 33xxx miles, but there was only 5 digits on the odometer, so i dont know if it reset itself after 99999. anyway, i pulled out the turbo and it had a .48 exhaust and .60 compressor. i checked the shaft and there was minimal side to side play...no in and out play at all...it also spun freely. no cracks, but rust from normal wear and tear is evident on the exhaust housing. i didnt really get to check the badge on it, but from the obvious, its a garrett t3...correct me if i'm wrong.
would this turbo be worth the $90 they were charging for it? also, would this be a decent turbo for my '98 gsr? i dont really wanna boost anything more than 10 lbs (most likely 6-8 to start out with) since its going to be my daily driver. if i should pass on this one, any recommendations for a junk yard turbo setup that will suit my needs? any and all help is appreciated. TIA

That charger will probably be a little small for the higher rpms needs of a c1. For strictly street use I would look for a T3/T04B or T3/T04E with a smaller turbine and compressor.
the t3 60trim is a nice turbo.... I beleive somewhere somone plotted your motor on that turbo's map and it was a rather good match-- as a matter of fact, aynthing above a 50 trim t3 was good, only better was a mitsu somthing or other if I remember correctly. It might have been superhonda, though? Actually, http://www.homemadeturbo.com, i think now. I'd take it for that price.
