Does anyone know why I am not getting any power when I first move off? Once I step on the gas pedal the car does not move off immediately. Some one told me that the egr ports being clogged can cause this, but I cleaned it and still no difference.

 

check the throttle cable, it may have too much slack.....

 

I have tighten it before. It is perfect. I was thinking maybe the Cat is clogged or something Or the Plugs wires or even the distributer is bad.

 

yup those are all possibilities....... you have to start somewhere and usually its best to start at the cheapest part.

 

yeah I know, but other then the pull off, the car drive great!. I know it has to be something simple that is causing this problem. Could I take the car and have it placed on a diagnostic?

 

sure but it will cost ya!

visually check in the engine bay for anything out of order... it may be as simple as a loose plug wire or something

 

yea , i think i have the same problem like at a stop light ..ill press on the gas and the rpms will go up but not much acceration at all..any possibility its the tranny slippin?..hope not

 

I have been playing around with the timing. I retarded it back alittle. I feel more power comeing back from 1st gear. Maybe it's the timing. I am going to have to get someone with a timing gun to check it out. What do you guys think?

 

well retarding the timing defiently isnt gonna give you more power, unless it was way off to begin with. it wouldnt hurt to check it out, but your problem can be almost anything. if it feesl like your car has excessive backpressure, it might very well be the cat, i had to replace mine after a little run-in with 15" of water and it was definetly robbing alot of power.

i dont know what to tell you though, like cd8 said, replace the cheapest/likeliest stuff first and try to narrow it down a bit.

 

I have 177,000 Miles on it. Maybe the Cat is bad, I brought the car used so I am not sure if the Cat has ever been changed. While the car Idles, I do hear a misfire every once in a while.
