Default general opinons of del sols

i'm thinking about getting one and i was just curious what everyone else thought about them. i always thought they were girl cars, but i figure if i put the right engine into one than it wont matter. so is a del sol a respectable car to have?

Who cares what other people think. Get what you like. Best way to see if you like it or not is to just simply test drive one.

yea, i thought they were girl cars till my friend & my neighbor's friend got one.

one auto-x's really well turboed & the other has a b20 turbo that's really really quick. so after seeing those two, i have a lot of respect for them.

how do you like yours? they arent the easiest car to find, especially if you cant drive an automatic. i'd love to test drive one, but until then i am trying to learn what i can about them.

I love my del Sol. Honda reliability, removeable roof, and only two seats with a nice interior.

Can be a good autocross car, too. The VTEC model also looks to be a good ITS car when looking at it on paper.

I think they're heavy if you're into dragging. They shape of the driver side floor is weird and gets in the way when I press the clutch. Takes a while to get used to that. They look cool and all so if ur into just cruising, then its all you.

a del sol is really fun to drive. the great thing about it is a lot of parts from 92-95 civics and 94-01 integras work with del sols so you have a lot of options when it comes to modifying it. the seats are really comforatble and sometimes feel like racing seats when taking hard corners. even with the base model it still comes with pretty good options.

they're heavy?? i dont care about the door being in the way, but one of the reason i want one is because of their light weight. they cant be that "heavy" considering how small they are.

Sols kinda get the shaft with their Solo II classing, but they're still fun to autocross with.

I my car. It's like a Civic but a little different

And they aren't that heavy. My VTEC weighs 2491 lbs. stock. Heavy for its size I guess, but nothing extreme. Still feels pretty light on its feet.

The weight isn't a big issue, trust me.... the are hardly a couple hundred pounds heavier than a coupe, and lighter than an accord... so it doesn't really make a difference. IMO, unless you are racing Papadakis, **** it, get a del sol if you like em, I wouldn't get rid of mine for **** now, even with all the **** **** talk about them being "girl cars" a VW Beetle is a girl car... get off my nuts

Like i said before.. if you're just going to put a decent motor in it and chill then cool, get it. If you plan on drag racing it it wouldn't be the smartest choice to get the best E.T. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by delslo26 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The weight isn't a big issue, trust me.... the are hardly a couple hundred pounds heavier than a coupe, and lighter than an accord... so it doesn't really make a difference. </TD></TR></TABLE> This also means they're much heavier then a hb. Comparing anything to an accord means its heavy. If weights not a deal, get what you want. Most people replying to this own a del sol so its only natural they're going to say good stuff about it. Try asking peoples opinions who don't currently own a del sol but have had experiences with them.

To each his own really. If you're into drag racing, then a standard hatchback would be better, but if you're into turning, then the del Sol has more potential stock for stock, IMO.

For a daily driver I don't think weight should be a big deterent. Although, I believe the del Sol Si is actually lighter than the EX coupe or 4 door with the D16Z6 as standard engines.

Bottom line: get what you like. Test drive a del Sol, don't rely on us.
