Weight Reduction...
I'm looking to lose as much weight as possible in my ef hatch... what can i get rid of all suggestions will be accepted... as is any links to other sites and threads! BTW its a 89 Si hatch!
well, um...all the interior of course. seats and all (well, don't get rid of the driver seat though
).
i gutted my crx si, took out everything pretty much, and it made a noticable difference. i took my 1/4 from 16.7 to 15.9 with the addition of 2 1/4 piping and gutted interior (allthough i'm sure i improved my driving as well, but still...).
i'm not saying that just gutting the car would totally make you faster, but i noticed it when i was just cruising on the streets.

Starters is to rip out your rear seats and rear area matting/covers. Then passengers side seat. Remove all stereo components. Jack up the car and yank out all factory sound reduction material. There's more, I don't feel like thinking of what else you can remove.
There's a topic like this about once per week. Check the search. People always throw out stupid ideas that will cost a fortune, but oh well. You don't really mean "as much as possible."
use lexan or something light instead of your rear windows and moonroof...get a fiberglass hatch, upgrade to lightweight lugnuts/screws/bolts, get a lightweight rear suspension, lightweight rims (ie: rota slipstreams)....just alot of things to do, if you have money...if you don't, you can just do what sport compact car did once...just take a sawzall to your car and chop it down to the minimum frame...i believe they did that in a sentra and went from hi 15's to mid 14's...but seriously, other than gutting your interior, the only thing you can do is buy lightweight replacement parts
try this...it'll take some work but it'll be worth it...get some dry ice, freeze the sound deadening mats, and chip the bastards off...all told, I took out 27 lbs. of material from my 90 si....

you can take out the side impact bars in the doors and you'll lose a lot of weight just don't get hit by a car from the side!!! good luck!!! (i didn't advise you to do this!)
cut the whole roof off(leave front window to be legal! ) In the back down to the wheelwell and floor board, Honda/Minitruck. Take the drill to the floor board......more holes more wait gone. hehe, and all the other common stuff the racers know on hontech
"you can do it" (if you reinforce the lower, and only, frame of the car)
you imagine that beast with a prelude moter, wow
