Default Header install! HELP!!

Alright, important question here. Never installed a header before, and had some questions.

1.) How high do I need to jack the front of the car to do the install? I have a 2 ton jack right now, but it doesn't like the car high enough to fit the new header under the car even. Does anyone have an estimate on how high I need the jack to lift the car? (I will go out and buy a new jack I guess...)

2.) The new header is installed from the bottom of the car right?

3.) Just bolt it in right? Follow torque specs of course (I have the Helms manual)

Thanks!!

I just installed my header yesterday so it is fresh on my mind.

1) Jack it up high enough to get jack stands underneath and it should be plenty high for clearance.

2) Yes, push the header up from the bottom of the car.

3) Yep. bolt-on and torque

Good Luck

Header goes in from the bottom. Jack it up as high as possible..if it's not high enough put a block between the jack and the car to get it higher. It's a tight fit...I took off the splashgaurd to make it easier. Slide the header under the car with the bottom of the header facing the passenger side of the car then pull it up at an angle from up top. It's a tight fit..but theres no need to remove anything to install it...tighten the nuts evenly from the center working your way to the outsides. If you took your stock header off, then you should be able to put this one with no problems..it's just a little harder because it is a one piece design.

Onyx, your car is new. You shouldnt have any problems with those?? Are they rusted?? If you stripped them, then you will have to cut them off..

Pep boys has some good products that spray on tight bolts to help you loosen them. It should make the job a lot easier.

As for the jack, try this. Assuming your plate is large enough, pile a couple of 2 x 4s in the gap between the jack plate and the lift point when the jack is lowered all the way. It gives you an extra 4" or so at full lift, and since the wood just gets crushed, it won't damage the car. Remember, though, that this is ONLY to get the jack stands under the car. Don't ever work under the car with just a jack.
