Default D-series engine squeak under load - NOT belts or pulleys - any ideas?

I have the D15b7 auto with a Y8 top end. When my car warms up, I can hear a on-off squeaking when I give it gas. it does not happen if I rev it in neutral, only when the car is driving in D and I give it gas, especially when going up hill. I have searched & tried to find the noise but no luck. I have even driven the car without the accessory belts to find the source and it was still there with no alternator belt and no PS belt (have no AC). I am stumped. I have even replaced the crank pulley and made sure it is torqued down. The distributor was replaced at 120k mi (150k mi now). I know what a bad distributor sounds like and this is definitely a squeak, not a scrape noise like a bad distributor. what else could there be? something internal? what do crank bearings sound like when they start to go bad? or what about the oil pump? any other guesses?
thanks for help !
