Where I'm located, the OBD2 cars get their checks by having the diagnostic port hooked up to the computer.......

My question is, does it actually read emissions(CO%, HC%...etc..) or does it just look for bad readings from the sensors(check engine lights, Codes)???

 

All it does is look for any current check codse you may have. When I went, I just pulled the 7.5A fuse under the hood that resets the ECU for 10s. Drove the car to testing and passed.
