Another LS/VTEC Question????

Another LS/VTEC Question????
I'm gonna be running a B18B block with a B16a2 head. Everyone says to use a LS head gasket. But it seems like the LS one dosn't line up for **** with the head. Couldn't I just have the machine shop open up the holes on the B16 gasket. It seems to line up better with the head and block??? I'm not trying to say anyones wrong, i'm just wondering why?
