Default Question about CV Boot

Just went to get an oil change and the guy there told me my CV Boot is cooked on both sides. What should I expect to pay to get this fixed? Also, I've heard it is easier to just replace the whole axel, is this necessary? Thanks.

im not sure about how much the boot will cost but i can say it would be cheaper to replace it rather than to buy a whole new axle... IF your axle isnt making any clicking noises while turning, the axle should still be fine. Just replace the boot and make sure its all greased up inside there.

here is my theory on it boot 10 bucks (retail) labor 25-40 that is already how much it costs for a new axle ...... and if your going to do it yourself it is all messy i rather buy a autozone one that has a warrenty on it so when you have problems with it just return it

I just bought axles from raxles.com... I figure it will cost the same in labor to replace the boots as it would to replace the axles. So just do the axles - only 20-30$ more.
