Default Change CV boots or just replace the whole axle?

ok so my boots are going out,
one already ripped and lost all its lube,
and the other one looks like it could go pretty soon too.

i don't have that much free time in my schedule,
so i'm thinking about just replacing the whole axles.

How is swapping out just the boots though? that would save some $$ for sure,
but it seems like a hassle to me, in comparison.

It's not worth the hassle of replacing just the boots - at least in my experience - so I suggest the autozone/napa axles. They're warranteed for life, so you can take em back whenever you sling a boot in the future

Yup, whole axle. You have to take them out completely to do jut the boots anyway.

yup, its not worth the hassle. and since they lost all the lube then that just means the axle will fail quicker.

not that big of a price difference either.

Whole Axles FTW.....doing boots suck and is very messy...plus most Auto parts stores will give you a pretty good warranty on the Axles.

Good Luck.

Default Joint could be f'ed

Since you've lost a lot of grease and possibly absorbed some road sand and salt into the joint, your existing joint could be worn.

I've replaced at least 6 axles using rebuilt ones from carquest for $65. The $65 new ones aren't really new - they're reman. But with Carquest they have a lifetime warranty which I have exersized with no questions asked.

I believe the ones from Advance Auto are brand new. They also come with a lifetime warranty.
