Tuning without a VAFC?

I was wondering... if i set my fuel and throttle settings on my VAFC then unwire it from my ECU back to stock... will my settings still be on there without my VAFC?

How would the VAFC's settings possibly still be intact and functional when it is no longer connected to the vehicle?
