Default Live in SoCal, have an EK with a JDM B16a, Gotta go to the B.A.R.

Allright guys, I got pulled over the other day for my exhaust being too loud(Mugen TWLS). The CHP popped my hood and gave me a ticket for missing smog device(tube that goes from intake pipe to valve cover). Now I have to visit the B.A.R. The ticket says must clear through the B.A.R. I drive a 96' EK with a 96' JDM B16a EK4 motor. I have I/H/E and 2.25" piping with a high flow cat and a Mugen TWLS exhaust.

What exactly do I need to do to make my car pass at the B.A.R?

I've heard that I'll need:
USDM ITR or SI intake manifold.
USDM 96' Del Sol DOHC VTEC ecu.
USDM header most likely, because DC's don't let the cat get hot enough.
Probably a stock intake box(which one for my car do I use? Si or EX, I made a hole on the side where it normally runs instead of using the ITR intake)
Stock exhaust will probably work best.
My cat and piping should be fine, I put the high flow cat on less than 6 months ago

Lastly, does anyone know which station will be the easiest to pass?

Please don't post to tell me I should of run the hose in the first place or that Cali has such harsh smog laws, you'd only be stating the obvious and wasting your time.

first off make it look as stock as you can. for sure take off your dc header. if your intake have a CARB sticker you can leave it on. i went to the ref in escondido he is a pretty kick back guy but he does do his job. you could always go someplace and do a test run to see how your car is testing.

hope this helps a bit

hrmm.
you might be f*cked since your car is OBD2 and those BAR/Smog places have OBD2 testing equipment that can read data logs. But like kwil666 says, I'd put everything back to stock and if you don' t have a US OBD2 DOHC VTEC ecu, try using a SOHC VTEC ecu in your car....oh wait that might not be a good idea as they can read info of the particular OBD2 ecu being used (if its US made) and get the VIN number etc off that ecu....

hmmm....
I honestly wouldn't know what to do .... i just know that owning a US OBD2 vehicle sucks!

Sounds like you got it. I got the same ticket. Put a stock header and any stock intake you have. The si im. The ecu is gonna be the hardest part It's kind of a grey area. use the del sol and you should be cool. I got a stock swap for $200 when I got my ticket and I swapped back for the test. Whittier and fullerton aren't dicks, I wouldn't call any ref cool. good luck.

P.S. You could also buy a stock swap even if it costs you a $1000 you can always resell it after you pass.
