i heard that since my car comes with a cat on the exhaust manifold/header, the motor swap will need a cat at the header as well to pass. can anyone confirm this?

Re: (spoolinq)
Here is the basic list of what you'll need to get a legit BAR approved swap(in order of importance):
The motor has to be the year of the car or newer
New/ working o2 sensor(s) and cat
USDM ECU for the motor that it is closest to
ALL wirirng has to look OEM or better(no crimping...must be soldered & heat shrunk)
timing has to be within 2 degrees (either way) of factory specs)
No matter what motor you swap, I'd strongly reccomend a fresh tuneup & oil change as well as using fuel system cleaner and that garunteed to pass stuff...then hope and pray hard

you can ref b16, LS, GSR, Type R, H22. just make sure you have all the neccessary smog eguipment that was installed on that particular engine. and for the cat on the header, no you dont have to put it there because the configuration of the oth er motor is different from the original. you would just go by the configuration of the motor and yr that you are installing. and a tip when u go is to retard the timing2 degress from spec, it makes less NOx
