I'm curious, since our turbo engines produce a ton more heat, especially on the exhaust side, does everyone adjust their valves to the loose side of the specs, or even looser than the specs specified since the motor sees more heat, expanding the metal more?

 

If you adjust the lash to looser specs then they will not open as far and the duration of the opening will be less.

Take that as you may.

If your worried about heat on the valves then its best to just replace them with an aftermarket piece.

 

I'm not worried about heat on the valve, but it seems since it gets more heat it'd expand more. So does everyone adjust theirs on the tight end of the specs?

 

something ive noticed while checking on stock engines is that if its stock even with 60k miles its usually still tighter than the tightest spec on the actual clearance, dont know if that made sense, but heres an ex i did a type r for a kid in my class, it was tighter than the spec was supposed to be and he was the only owner and had never had it done. so i dont think leaving it in spec would make any differnce even with the heat, just leave it at spec and most problems will be avoided.
