Turbo and long distance driving?
#3
i would think if u stayed outa boost and just cruized u would be ok.
but u have to make sure the car is in tip top shape for drives like that and everytime u stop check your oil and oil return line and coolant level.
also check the plugs, might want to throw a fresh set in there

Re: Turbo and long distance driving? (play)
I drove almost 200 miles a day on my ls turbo everyday. I put over a 1000 miles a week on my car. I never had a problem. I would say just do not boost over 12 psi and you should be fine.

I'd be more concerned about leaving my boosted SI without a swat team around it than the actual driving

I can't seem to go over 65 without getting out of vacuum. I have an S1 trans so when I'm going 60MPH I'm at about 4500 RPMs. Would changing out my final drive affect any other gears than 5th? I'm hoping to make a 2 day, 19 hour total drive.

Don't boost keep your foot out of it. My friend drove from Texas to Cali and back with out a problem. Your car acts stock until it sees 1lb of boost.

Re: Turbo and long distance driving? (HybridcivicLS-T)
i just drove 150 miles on a completely untuned motor... stupid? kind of. i added a ton of fuel, checked my oil every 50 miles and didnt get on it once. i think if you drive smart, check your fluids, and arent leaning out you will be 100% fine.

I've been driving for about 8k miles now and still untuned. Longest is a 600 mile trip, no probs. You can stay outta boost for as long as you want just be easy on the gas pedal. When you're on the highway on long journeys and you wanna boost, just boost on and off, not continuous and you'll be OK.

Re: Turbo and long distance driving? (ProEater)
I put more long distance trip miles on my CRX than anything. I've gone a couple seven hour trips to PA, boosting when I wanted to, getting off exit ramps so I could blast back up the on ramps, and generally acting like an ******* when there was no traffic around.
I don't worry about it.

long as you are not boosting 195 miles out of the 200 miles you are fine
my old turbo gsr went all over i drove it everyday for work and everything else
and no problems
long as everything is ok there shouldnt be any problems
