Problme with brake caliper
Here is my dilema. before doing my brakes this week end I had a rubbing noice coming from the left front brakes. I was thinking it was the rotor that was maybe warped. So I gor new pads got the rotors turned and flushed and bled the hole system. I also instaled a rear disk conversion that also got new pads and rotors turned. I finaly took the car for a test drive and it's all well untill I get on the brakes hard. Then the noice starts again. So I'm thinking of rebuilding the caliper and I do a search, it seams like a nightmare to do. I then deside Ill just buy a rebuilt caliper. I look on my manual It list 2 types of calipers a "5410" and a "2056" I check and My car has the "2056". I call around and the have calipers in stock but they can't tell my which kind they have. Are they interchangable? the rotors seem to be the same it's just the style of the caliper it self changes.
cliff notes: 98 Civic Cx
new pads, new lines, rotors turned
replasing caliper
Two types "5410" and "2056"
Are they intercahngable?

Update: It only seams to happen when I get on the brakes hard and het them hot. once the have a chance to cool off the noice seems to go away. Whan do you guys think It couls posibly be?
I found the problem, the noice was comming from the dist shield, it was dented on the bottom and it was barely making contact with the rotor. It seams that when the rotor heated up it expanded and made contact with it enoght to make a loud rubbing sound. I just trimed it and problem solved.
