Help with my B18 Swap
After careful consideration I've decided to go with a B18 non-vtec in my CRX but before I do I have a couple of questions.
1. I plan on boosting up to 18lbs in the future and I need to know what other than rods & pistons needs to be upgraded with the block, how much boost will the stock sleeves take? keep in mind I'll be running an intercooler and 8:1 pistons.
2. Can I use any year B18 longblock say 96 as long as I use a cable trans?
3. How strong are Integra GS cable Trans will they be able to handle 300+ hp, I dont plan on running slicks?
4. A local salvage yard has a 96 LS longblock with 25,000 miles they want $1000 is that a good price?
5. Lets say I decide to go NA how reliable is an LS-Vtec and what kind of power do the make?
Thanks for all the help

Ok...
1. I think that is about the limit of stock sleeves, 18lbs. If you are going to get the block balanced and machined then it proobably wouldn't hurt to have a blockguard welded in.
2. True. Just be sure you match up your clutch disk with the same year tranny you get.
3. Sure go for it. If you break it get another one.
4. If you can get a cable tranny with that price and it has the wiring harness just in case then go for it. That would be the max I would pay for a complete LS motor.
You can probably find one cheaper too. If you are going to replace pistons and stuff then why not get one that has some miles since you are going to replace seals as well, right?
5. I don't know. As far as I know as long as the head gets oil and you don't rev the **** out of it(9000) then they are pretty good.
If anyone has anything to add or dispute please do, these are just my opinions and experiences. Thanks.
