Ok, can someone please give a DETAILED description of what an intake does? Also, why is the stock one not good? How do the different top brands of intake differ from one another?

Startin' to learn about mods... any help is appreciated.

 

intake sucks in air to be directed into the manifold where it goes in to be combined with fuel so ur car can combust the **** and get power from it

The only different an aftermarket intake is from your stock box is that it'll suck more air in, but you should get a cold air intake cause they'll suck cooler air in, with the regular intakes, they mostly suck in the heat from your motor.

Air intake, huh? Common sense does not say why the stock intakes are not as good as aftermarket intakes. And common sense does not explain that cold air is needed because it's more dense with oxygen molecules which accelerate combustion in order to give more power. I did say that I wanted a DETAILED description. You must understand this is not common sense.
