Ram air intake = Hot air intake??

Ram air intake = Hot air intake??
The stock intake on these cars seem like they would deliver colder air than a ram air intake that just sticks above where the stock ones are, where the air is warmer. I remember on my old friends SI he had an aftermarket intake that went all the way down where the stock one went - you couldnt even see the filter when u popped the hood. Anyway my question is - where can i get this type of cold air intake? I have to ditch this RAM warm air intake ebay bullshit i have on it right now... (prev. owner didnt know what they were doing)

There are tons of companies that sell a CAI, you could start off by actually doing some research.

SRI = better throttle response, but sucks up hot air once the engine is warm
CAI = colder (and thus denser) air, resulting in more power even after the engine is warm
I think SRI's provide more peak power, but CAI's provide more area under the power curve. I'm not 100% sure about that; correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: (ddd4114)
Some people have done research where after 25mph, all the "wind" traveling into the engine bay does cool down the air enough so that an SR intake will not be taking in air as hot as it would be stationary, so its not as significant as people/marketing tries to make it.

Heh, it was just a matter of time.
92c1v1cHATCH - while the cold air intakes go down into the fenderwell and pull air from there, the stock intake doesn't draw air from down there. With OEM pipes what goes down in the fenderwell is a resonator - basically a big baffle that quiets the intake. It's a closed loop, very little air goes in, very little air goes out, it just keeps the OEM new car conforming to OEM new car regulations.
Most Honda OEM intakes I've seen pull air from roughly behind the passenger headlight, sometimes travelling further towards the center so they're pulling above or behind the radiator.
