i dont wanna sound like a jerk or anything or neive, but these days, what do car alarms do? thieves know every way around every alarm and when a siren goes off, WHO CARES?????? whens the last time you've seen someone actually do something about an alarm going off with a siren..? id say kill switches and latch sensors are a great start... i have a 94 gsr as well, and am also looking to do something to it to make it nice 'n safe from being stolen...

If you must go with an alarm, anything made by DEI is a sound investment. As far as theives being able to bypass most alarm systems, it's because they're not installed adequately. Many installers (experience speaking here) are more concerned with whether or not the alarm is working properly than making the car harder to steal. Many installers don't hide alarm brains or wires well if even at all. With everything out in the open of course a theif is going to be able to find it and bypass it in no time. It's all in the install. The alarm in my integra is hidden so well that even the installers I work with haven't been able to find the brain. Even when they try to trace the wires they can't find it or even tell which ones are which. I still highly recommend kill switches and the like but a good alarm can be proper theft deterrent when installed properly.

Cliffort Vangurd G4 Don't get the new G5 unit, 2 much of DEI on it, way easy to break in,

Make sure that you get the blackjacks unit, the best way to never get your car jacked

make your own custom fuel cut off switch
Club and a Autolocker U can't go wrong, check out your local dealership, and see how much a low jack will run you, i got mine for 600 bucks.

Intelliguard 750 Intelliguard 850
Those are you 2 best bets, the blacks unit is great, u have to enter a code whenever you open up the door, or your car will shut up, it was hella funny, i was at the local street races, and i frogot to enter my code, and my car shut off and starting going crazy, everyone was looking at me, due to how loud the alarm was, took me like 10 mins to turn it off, fucken thives don't stand a chance, just make sure u hide your blackjacks switch, mine is in the back of the car somewhere.

I was thinking about purchasing the Directed Electronics Viper 800esp. The reviews on this alarm were spectacular. What does everyone think of this alarm?

the first thing you need to do is reroute the hood release cable. as for alarms, the most important thing is the install, not really the specific unit.
