Default Question: Is it dangerous to take the cover off the exhaust manifold?

Will it burn or singe other wires around it? I don't want to replace wires

are you talking about the aluminum heat shield? As long as nothing that will melt is close to the headers you will be fine. When you go to aftermarket headers they don't even have a heatshield.

it will be fine but its recommended to keep it on cuz that puppy gets hot. sooooo keep it on till you get an aftermarket header or go turbo

if u have to take it off u will be alright as long as u dont have any plastic or wire near the header like he said. i would recomend leaving it on it keeps the bay a little cooler and its not that heavy

I've been getting along without mine just fine for a while now.

backstory: I went to take it off for cleaning/polishing (my dad has a bike so he has all the wheels and compounds) and two of three bolts snapped.... no more heat shield!
