white ash on exhaust valves? wtf
bought a used head. it looks alright but instead of black carbon deposits on the exhaust valves there is a white looking ash. also the combustion chamber looks more oily than it should. could it have been abused with N2O before or anything?
I bought a used head. It absolutely sucked. Had so much carbon on the valves that they did not seal. Had to have a machine shop do a valve job to grind all the seats.
After you put the head on and torque down the head bolts, before you put the cams on so all the valves are shut - compress some air into the cyclinders (leakdown) to make sure everything is sealing right. No sense putting it all back together to realize u have a few valves not sealing....

i also just bought a used head and the exhaust valves are white, which i assumed was from running hot. it kinda didnt make sense tho, cause the spark plugs were showing normal wear/operating temperatures. im taking my valves out and im gonna have it tanked to get all the deposits off before i put it on.
dude return the head to the kid cuz the ***** was running a lot of nos on the engine or if you keep it make sure you send it to the machine shop for port and polish and buy a brand new set of valve train kid
