Default how to get a skunk2 shift **** to line up

i just got a skunk2 shifter and **** package and im having a little bit of a problem with the shift ****. I know it comes with the nut, but what exactly is that for? Ive tried threading that onto the shifter and it goes down just a little ways and then stops. I didnt want to get a wrench and really tighten it down because i dont want to kill the threading on the shifter. Anyone have any advice on this? I feel really dumb even asking this kind of question .

i don't think it's supposed to go down very far at all, the shifter should be exposed inbetween the **** and boot

The nut is to lock the shift **** in place. Just use your hands and a wrench to tighten it down.

put the nut on the shift lever first, with the widest side facing up.
then put the **** on.
tighten the **** with your hand, and align it the way you want to keep it.
then tighten the nut agianst the ****'s bottom side while holding the **** in that orientation you chose.
all set.
Skunk2 ****, cool.
HTH.

Yeah guy's.. this thread is ancient. No need to knock on people though.

We all had to start somewhere, remember that.
