Default HEat shields

a friend of mine recently got a b16a swapped into his crx si,problem is he also got a aftermarket exhaust also installed w/no heat shields,and now his car puts out tremendouse heat around the console about like riding on a oven and around the shifter,any help on what he might beable to do about the heat would be appreciated

well he needs to either take the exhaust off and wrap it in some thermo insulation and or put the heat shields back on.

he has it wrapped right now in thermo wrap,still hotter than ever,and the original heat shileds are onthe original exhaust

it sounds like the problem runs deeper than a heat sheild. I've got a turbo with no heatshields and my console does not get hot but my engine bay does.

I would check to see if the cat is working properly and is not clogged. When a cat is clogged or the motor runs mcuh too rich for a while the cat can get so hot it glows red.

he has a hollowed out cat,but it is nt wrapped.maybe that would help,

Not sure about the cause of the problem, but maybe adding some dynamat heat shield( made for the undersides of hoods ) to the underside of the transmission tunnel would help.
